Overview
After Triangle installs your ONT (Optical Network Terminal), you need to connect your Wi-Fi router to get wireless internet throughout your home. This guide covers standard router setup.
What You Need
- Your Triangle ONT (installed by our engineer — the white/grey box with a cable port)
- A Wi-Fi router (purchased separately or provided by Triangle)
- An ethernet cable (usually supplied with the router)
- A device (laptop or phone) to configure the router
Connection Steps
- 1Connect the ethernet cable from the ONT's LAN port to your router's WAN port (often labeled 'Internet' and colored differently).
- 2Plug in your router's power adapter and turn it on.
- 3Wait 2 minutes for the router to fully boot — lights should stabilize.
- 4On your device, connect to the router's default Wi-Fi network (name and password are on a label on the router).
- 5Open a browser and go to 192.168.1.1 (or 192.168.0.1, 192.168.1.254, 192.168.0.254, 192.168.88.1, routerlogin.net, or netic.cc) to access the router settings.
- 6Log in with the default credentials — usually admin / admin (check the label).
- 7Follow the setup wizard or go to WAN Settings and select 'DHCP' as the connection type.
- 8Save and reboot the router. You should now have internet access.
💡
Can't access 192.168.1.1? Try 192.168.0.1, 192.168.1.254, 192.168.0.254, 192.168.88.1, routerlogin.net, or netic.cc — the correct address is printed on the router label.
After Setup
Once online, we recommend immediately changing your Wi-Fi name and password from the defaults. See the guide: How to Change WiFi Name & Password.
