Overview

The Triangle Speed Test at /speedtest measures your real-world internet performance including download speed, upload speed, ping (latency), jitter, and packet loss. For an accurate reading, follow the preparation steps in this guide.

Before You Run the Test

  1. 1Connect your device via Ethernet cable (not Wi-Fi) for the most accurate result.
  2. 2Close all other browser tabs and applications.
  3. 3Pause any cloud sync (Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox).
  4. 4Ask others in the house to pause streaming or large downloads.
  5. 5Disable VPN if active — VPNs artificially slow test results.
💡
Run the test at least 3 times and average the results. A single test can be affected by server load.

Understanding the Results

  • Download speed — how fast data arrives to your device (affects streaming, browsing)
  • Upload speed — how fast data leaves your device (affects calls, cloud backups)
  • Ping — round-trip delay in milliseconds; under 20ms is excellent
  • Jitter — variation in ping; under 5ms is excellent
  • Packet loss — lost data packets; 0% is perfect
